    Hotel Miramar on Bournemouth’s East Cliff has a long-standing history of attracting artists and authors, and indeed was the favourite haunt of author J. R. R. Tolkien who holidayed at the hotel regularly for over thirty years until his death in 1972. To this day a blue commemorative plaque can be seen outside the front entrance of the hotel in memory of his time in the town.

  • Here at Hotel Miramar we do love a family celebration, and this weekend was certainly a special occasion when the Maybutt family enjoyed their day with the marvellous 105 year old Hilda Maybutt.

    This event has now become a regular feature, as Hilda has come to the hotel with her family for a birthday celebration since she turned a mere 100 years of age.
